Coimbatore: Blaming the AIADMK State Government led by Chief Minister, Edappadi K Palanisamy and Deputy Chief Minister, O. Panneerselvam for their failure in curbing sexual crime against women and children, Deputy General Secretary of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) and MLA from the R.K Nagar Constituency, T.T.V. Dhinakaran alleged that the safety of women and children were in jeopardy in the current AIADMK regime.

Campaigning for the AIADMK candidate of the Coimbatore Constituency N.R. Appadurai at Kavundampalayam here on Tuesday, Dhinakaran slammed the State Government for tampering with evidences and interfering in the sexual harassment cases.
Dhinakaran also quoted the recent sexual abuse cases of Pollachi and Pannimadai and stated that the State government was slow to act in nabbing the culprits. “The Government had miserably failed to ensure the safety of women and children,” he pointed.

Calling the State Government a puppet of the Central Government, he claimed that people of the State were being deceived by both.

“The Ministers and even the Chief Minister are scared to meet the people, as they fear that people may besiege them. There is an obvious anti-incumbency wave already in the State", opined the AMMK, Deputy General Secretary.
He also claimed that the State Government was trying to postpone the by-polls in whichever way possible to retain their reins on the Government.
He also lashed out at DMK's secular progressive alliance and called it as “alliance against the people”.
Talking about his strength in the State, Dhinakaran said that the candidates fielded by him would be the deciding factor in the formation of the new Government.

Earlier Dhinakaran was given a rousing reception by the AMMK cadres in Kavundampalayam. He also named a girl child by the name ‘Ammu’ at Vadavalli during the rally. "The name is a pet name of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa", he noted.

Starting his campaigning in Ooty around 12.30 p.m, Dhinakaran addressed a large gathering of people in Coonoor, Kotagiri, Mettupalayam, Karamadai, Periyanaickenpalayam, Thudiyalur, Vadavalli, Saibaba Colony, Ramanathapuram, Singanallur and Sulur garnering votes in the constituencies of Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Pollachi.
